Mattie, Grace, & Carrie

Mattie, Grace, & Carrie
Originally uploaded by Mirabilia.
From a small group of hand tinted photographs, purchased at a roadside antique shop, outside of Seattle.
On the reverse is written:
Mattie Derbyshire, Grace Van Gilder, & Carrie H. Ross
A search of 1910 US census records finds Carrie H. Ross, age 49, living in the village of Kellogg, Shonone County, Idaho, with her husband Harvey M., a lead miner.
In the same town, Grace Van Gilder, age 19, from England, living with her parents.
Also, Mattie Derbyshire, 17, living with her mother, stepfather, Elmer Ross, and several siblings.
Given the ages listed in the census, it appears this photograph was probably taken sometime around 1910.
